LeBron James roots for the Yankees; Drew Carey named Cavs’ new forward

Why can't LeBron look more like Drew?
The Plain Dealer reported today that Lebron James will be rooting for the Yankees if they face the Indians in the upcoming divisional series. Now some people might respect that LeBron is his own man, arguing that he's allowed to root for whoever he wants. He shouldn’t be forced to support Cleveland’s baseball team, they say, just because he’s the face of our basketball team. Yeah, that's some bullshit. LeBron wearing a Yankees cap is akin to Brady Quinn getting his face tattooed to look exactly like Terry Bradshaw's. But it's typical, really. This, after all, is a guy who flew all the way to New York to host Saturday Night Live. Hey SNL Guy: Cleveland has live talk shows too, you know. Ever heard of a little show called Good Company? Another thing: we don’t approve of you cavorting with Jay-Z all the time. You need to hang out with some of our equally talented Cleveland rappers. Bizzy Bone needs friends too, you know. So here's a tip, LeBron: Be like Drew Carey. That dude is constantly photographed in Cleveland sports gear. When he takes a vacation, he doesn’t use his ample fortune to fly to St. Tropez in the south of France, but rather jet-sets to his beach estate on the equally elegant shores of Lake Erie. Plus, Carey looks like a Clevelander. He’s pudgy, with a $7 haircut and terrible glasses. Lebron, meanwhile, is 6’8” and in superior physical condition. He dresses stylishly and just got Lasik eye surgery -- yet another slap in the face. The bottom line, LeBron: shape up or get shipped out. We will trade you for Andrei Kirilenko if you don’t at least pretend to have Indians Fever. And then we’ll see how you like hanging out with Utah rappers. -- Gus Garcia-Roberts

I just sent this e-mail to the Cleveland Cavaliers. I thought you would appreciate it. As a loyal Cavs, Browns and Indians fan, I thought it was unforgivable that star player LeBron James, would show up at Jacobs Field wearing a Yankees hat. He should have been forced by his P.R. team to support a fellow Cleveland team. What was he thinking!? Does he think he will get continued support from the great fans of Cleveland when he himself doesn’t respect or root for the Indians. I believe he has given the whole Cleveland Cavaliers organization a black eye. He has not given the respect or loyalty the city has given him. He is a traitor. This is disturbing and disappointing. Trade him to the Nets, we don’t need him! MacKenzie Morrison Scotskin76@yahoo.com

You guys a so stupid and have nothing better to do. I am glad you're into the everything Cleveland all the time scene but the reality is LeBron being a Yankees fan affects nothing, no one, or the results of the baseball playoffs. Why is it Clevelanders are so uptight about their sport teams? Who the hell cares what team LeBron grew up rooting for? Who cares that he hangs out with Jay-Z? The kids about his paper and his life. Stop trying to tell him how to live. You're mad because you're broke and a 20 something is creating a business network larger than you'd ever imagine he would coming out of high school. So now you have to find something to pick on him for? Bizzy Bone is garbage, his window is over, get over it. He hangs out with the likes of people that understand what he's going through, Jay-Z. What's Bizzy Bone going to show him, how to twist a blunt? Jay-Z is a CEO that came from nothing, much like LeBron who also came from nothing. He's not even from Cleveland, so stop your whining because he's a fan of another baseball team. He's friends with C.C., is that not enough? He goes to the games? Still not enough? He tried single handedly to bring you an NBA championship? Still not enough. Stop being critics all the time, it's lame and you're making Cleveland look like a bunch of DICKS in the process. Think he's going to want to stay if all you jackholes critisize him for liking another team. Drew Carey is also washed up. I love him to death, but what's he doing now? Don't try to pin him as Cleveland's hometown boy, he's not. You guys are so selfish. Shake it off Cleveland, you're giving yourself another black eye to the rest of the country. Maybe NY deserves LeBron, you've already betrayed his feelings, what else counts after that?

I don't care who Lebron James roots for in private but as a professional basketball player, who himself, has seen the enthusiasm of post season, he should support his city. The city whose fans (waitress, hotel workers, bartenders) benefit from post season play in any sport. This city backed him and his team during the playoffs. There is a billboard of him within walking distance to the Jake. This city loves him and all that he as done to bring competitive sports back to Cleveland. He must see that what is good for the city that supports him is good for him. Do we really care if Lebron cheers for the Yankees in private? No. But to show up in the midst of the same fans who cheered you on in a Yankees hat is just poor PR. The same fans that cheered on the Cavs are the same fans that sat around him cheering for the Yankees.
