Did Mike Symon finally bring Cleveland a title? Or did he get ousted by John Besh?
Well, we're not exactly sure, but we've got a damn good hunch, thanks to a Toronto Star restaurant column
Columnist Amy Pataki may have spoiled Sunday' finale of The Next Iron Chef
, in which Cleveland's own Mike Symon is going up against New Orleans' John Besh for the title of the next Iron Chef. (Read on only if you want to know the winner.)
On October 6, Pataki wrote that Toronto-based chef Guy Rubino had recently been in Manhattan to tape an episode of Iron Chef America, the very show on which Symon and Besh are vying for a spot. And which Iron Chef did Rubino compete against Not Flay, Morimoto, Cora, or even Batali. Rubino, Pataki writes, went up against Symon, in an episode that will air in January.
While Pataki was careful to refer to Symon as only a "prospective" Iron Chef, one has to wonder why any chef heading into kitchen stadium would be challenging anything less than an actual Iron Chef -- especially when the episode is airing a good three months after the newest Iron Chef is announced. So, yeah, it looks like our own hometown hero is the winner.
