HBO Tackles OSU-Michigan Rivalry

Posted by Pete Kotz on Fri, Nov 16, 2007 at 7:16 AM

As though anyone needed another reason to get pumped for this Saturday’s Ohio State vs Michigan game, HBO comes along with a stellar documentary about one of sports' most infamous rivalries. If you didn’t get a chance to catch Michigan vs Ohio State: The Rivalry, which first aired on Tuesday, make sure not miss its next airing tonight at 6 p.m. (Click here for the full schedule of air times). The 59-minute film is a decently in-depth look at a November tradition that reaches all the way back to 1897. Though many viewers have been dismayed by the lack of material on Lloyd Carr, the tribute to the mirthful Woody Hayes is a real tear jerker, and the constant pokes at OSU’s intellectual inferiority by various MSU grad talking heads (including Mike Wallace) will certainly get your blood boiling. Just remind yourself that they got little else to mock us for. After all, if it weren’t for our great state, “That-Team-Up-North” would never had any of its star players. Can you say Desmond Howard? -- Denise Grollmus
