Get Paid to Help Legalize Gambling!

Posted By on Thu, Jan 3, 2008 at 2:53 PM

If you've always wanted to spend way too much playing blackjack but are continually stymied by a barren bankroll and Ohio's dearth of blackjack parlors, then MyOhioNow.com may have the perfect solution to unlock the degenerate gambler that's chained within you. The group is lobbying to open one mega-casino in central Ohio, and it needs your help. Gambling is illegal in Ohio, of course, and all previous efforts to legalize it have been killed time and again by voters, which is why people pile into buses daily and take their hard-earned gambling money over every border we've got. ("Gone Bettin'," March 22, 2006). So to open this gambling palace -- a $600 million resort that the group claims would "create nearly 5000 new jobs and approximately $200,000,000 in new state tax revenues" -- they'll need voters to approve it next November. And to get on that ballot, they'll need the signatures of 400,000 registered voters. So they're enlisting the petition-drive help of pro-gambling Ohioans, and they're paying them for their services. (Cut to orientation: "Thank you for supporting our cause, people. You will each be paid $20 for your work. Don't lose it all in one hand!")
