If chocolates are on your Valentine’s Day gift list, a stop at Lyndhurst’s
Fantasy Candies Chocolate Factory (5456 Mayfield Rd., 440-461-4511) could be in order.
Confectioner and confessed chocolate addict Joel Fink whips up some of the most indulgent sweets in town -- chocolate drizzled popcorn, pretzels, and potato chips among them. But while you can certainly snag a giant heart-shaped box of premium chocolates here, the shop’s true tour de coeur may well be Fink’s 25 or so varieties of dark-chocolate barks, studded with everything from coffee beans and cayenne pepper to cranberries and cashews. (A perfect balance of creamy and chewy, the cranberry-apricot combo is our current fave.) ...
Not that we need a prescription to eat chocolate. But boasting 72 percent cocoa solids, the ultra-rich, ultra-dark chocolate is not only good, but it may even be good for you, with high levels of antioxidants and fiber; plus, the featured nut and berry blend-ins add nutritional boosts of their own. A gift for your sweetheart, with heart-healthy potential: What’s not to love about that?
Special holiday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Monday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
If you go, check out the chocolate-dipped strawberries and grapes, too. --
