Schlitz: Blender likes it. We like Blender. So we like Schlitz. But not as much as PBR.
The latest issue of our favorite music magazine, Blender
, gives props to our favorite music club, the Beachland
. Specifically, it names the bar’s jukebox as Best Jukebox in its Best List 2008. The entry praises the “vintage 1966 Rock-Ola,” which is stacked with 80 records – that’s “160 sides,” Blender helpfully informs us. The jukebox – which patrons can play for free! – is filled with ’50s rockabilly, ’60s soul, and ’70s art-punk. Blender digs that.
The best-of blurb also gives a little history of the club – a former Croatian social club that now books some of today’s best bands
-- and goes on to recommend the Beachland’s deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which the mag says goes well with a can of Schlitz. It must’ve been written by an outsider, since every Clevelander knows that nothing washes that heart attack down like a PBR. -- Michael Gallucci
