Happy Birthday Wish Bone! Now which one are you?

Posted By on Fri, Feb 15, 2008 at 1:08 PM

Hometown hero Bizzy Bone, of The Bone Thugs n’ Harmony, plays Peabody's (2083 E. 21st St., 216-776-9999) tonight. But it's another Thug who's having a special weekend. The Thugs are undoubtedly the most famous gospel/gangsta sing-song rap group to ever come out of Cleveland. But somehow, one mysterious member has managed to escape the white hot glare of the national media. Yes, who is Wish Bone? Even the authority on all things Bone Thug, BTNHCentral.com—the same site that thoughtfully provides Flesh-N-Bone’s prison mailing address—doesn’t know jack about Wish. Their “short biography”: “Wish Bone is the most unkown about member of Bone thugs-n-harmony. He is the only member that has yet to release a solo album.” What we do know, however, is this: he’s got a son nicknamed Lil’ Wish, his favorite food is steak n’ eggs, and—this one we honestly weren’t expecting—his favorite movie is True Romance. And here’s one more fact: his birthday is Sunday. This Sunday! The parade route should run down St. Clair from E. 99th street to the East Bank of the Flats. Frank Jackson, you grand marshal. Halle Berry, what size bikini do you wear? Ira Newble, here’s a bag of Smarties and peppermints—don’t throw too many to each kid. Happy 33rd, Big Wish. It’s our honor to play the Cleveland-centric video from one of the group’s greatest compositions: “Thuggish Ruggish Bone”. Enjoy Eazy-E looking totally at home in our fair city, footage of the Jake back when it was the Jake, and just before the 2 minute mark, those mischievous Thugs running from cops in front of Mirage nightclub, which is probably the sort of thing these guys were complaining about. The first line in the song says it best: “Cleveland is the city where we come from so run, run.” -- Gus Garcia-Roberts
