Slideshow: Shelby Lynne live at the Beachland (before our photographer got kicked out)

Quit worrying, Shelby. You’re still a babe.
Country-singer-turned-blue-eyed-soul-diva Shelby Lynne played the Beachland Ballroom Sunday night. Scene photographer Walter Novak was there to shoot some pictures. But in the middle of her first song, Lynne gave Novak the “stop” hand (as you’ll see in the accompanying slideshow), cutting short his snapping madness. Novak believes that because aging Lynne is often sold as a sexpot – and is beginning to show her years on the road – she didn’t particularly want him shooting with a long lens. He did get some pretty good photos of her working that first song, however. Enjoy. -- Michael Gallucci

Gee ... the crowd thought it was just a case of an inconsiderate photographer shooting bursts of noisy pics during a slow song and annoying both the crowd and artist. Shelby didn't seem to be troubled by him when he was taking single shots on the right side of the stage or even when he rushed around the ballroom to shoot from the left-hand side. It was only when he started rapid fire shots during a particularly quiet part of the song and people in the audience were actually turning to watch the photographer who was creating more noise than Shelby and the band combined that Shelby waved him away. Until I read his comments here I'd just assumed he was an over photographic artist so caught up in getting good pictures that he wasn't aware of how distracting his actions were. Now I know he is unaware and has a lack of class.
