"Hey bartender! Can I get your autograph?"
Shaun Smith has made a career of knocking down quarterbacks in his four-year NFL career. But tonight, the Browns’ defensive tackle will watch you knock down cocktails as he guest-bartends for his 91 Ways Foundation at Lakewood’s Around the Corner. Starting at 7 p.m., the 6-foot-2, 325-pound Smith – who was signed as a restricted free agent with the Browns last offseason -- will work the bar to collect tips for his charity, which is named after his jersey number. The foundation’s goal is to help build safe havens for teens in both Cleveland and his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. ... Smith couldn’t have picked a better night for the benefit. On Thursdays, the club specializes in $2 pours of Coors Light and $3.50 cherry and grape bombs while the kitchen plates up chicken wings for 30 cents apiece. If you miss tonight’s fund-raiser, Smith will also host the foundation’s Celebrity Bowling Tournament at the Corner Alley www.the corner alley.com. on April 12. Five-person teams can sign up to bowl with Smith’s teammates. Afterward, they can bid in a silent auction of sports memorabilia and a new car. To sign up, call 937-837-5200 or visit www.shaun-smith.com. Around the Corner is located at 18616 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood. Call 216-521-4413 for details. -- Cris Glaser
