Are you ready for some tofu? It's Monday Night Vegetarian Night at Lago

Posted by Joe Tone on Mon, Apr 7, 2008 at 9:38 AM

Health nut or meat-head, a vegetarian meal always makes for nice change of pace – particularly when it comes on an “I-really-don’t-feel-like-cooking” Monday evening. That’s tonight’s deal at Lago (2221 Professor Ave), the contemporary-Italian eatery in Tremont, where Executive Chef Josh Hartfranft cooks up an ever-changing rotation of 10 meat-free entrees every Monday evening. ... Among recent meatless offerings, consider dishes like fried goat-cheese panzanella; vegetable pizza with caramelized onion, artichokes, Castelvetrano olives, tomato, and goat cheese; ricotta ravioli; arugula salad topped with grilled polenta and Gorgonzola; and vegan risotto served with grilled veggies. No sweat for carnivores, either: Hartranft’s regular menu is also available, starring the usual line-up of veal, lamb, chicken, and seafood. Vegetarian Mondays run from 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are appreciated but not required. They can be made by calling 216-344-0547, or at Open Table.com. --- Elaine T.
