Menu de Luxe: A taste of Marlin Kaplan’s new menu

We finally got our hands on a final draft of the menu for Luxe Kitchen & Lounge (6605 Detroit Ave.), Marlin Kaplan’s funky new neighborhood boîte, opening soon in the Gordon Square arts district. “Rustic sophistication” could be the kitchen’s watchwords. Its Mediterranean-inspired dishes include charcuterie platters, house-cured olives, and harissa-dusted chicken wings. There are indulgent pastas like fettuccini carbonara with bacon, garlic and a sunny-side-up egg. Sandwiches include grilled duck panini with peppers, basil, spinach, provolone, and lemon aioli, while an assortment of pizzas features a quattro fromaggio, with fresh and shredded mozzarellas, parmesan, and seasoned ricotta, finished with roasted garlic oil. And there are plenty of sassy sides, including truffle fries, marinated baby vegetables, braised spinach with lemon confit, and housemade garlic chips. Not only do the offerings sound mouthwatering, they exemplify the way most of us like to eat today: sharing plates; mixing a bite of this with a taste of that; and enjoying precise, high-test flavors, in sensible portion sizes, at affordable prices. -- Elaine T.
