Unless you recognize a comedian’s name as That Girl From that Movie or the Dude from That One HBO Special, it can be hard to tell whether a stand-up is worth seeing. Lucky you: C-Notes did the legwork, and the skinny on this week’s big comedy shows, video included, is just a click away. Read on for a full rundown. -- D.X. Ferris Comedian: Dave Attell (video above) Specialty: Attell’s a bitter, acerbic comedian whom you may have seen boozing his way through cities across the country till dawn in Comedy Central’s Insomniac. His last HBO special was somewhat deceptively entitled Captain Miserable, and had great bits like “The Racist Dinosaur.” Playing: House of Blues, 308 Euclid Ave., downtown, 216-521-2583, www.hob.com Dates/Showtimes: 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7. Playing: The Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St., Akron, Akroncivic.com Dates/Showtimes: Saturday, June 7, 7 p.m. Tickets: $26 (Ticketmaster) Comedian: Danny Bevins Specialty: Says Bevins’ bio, “Danny Bevins is an all American - born in a red state, raised in a blue state. His two favorite movies are Ghandi and Fight Club. He knows that peace is the answer and if you don't he'll punch you until you agree or tap out. His qualifications include a life long obsession with twenty four hour news and half-truths, raised flags and mixed messages, selling freedom and limited choices, unemployment and cubicles, founding fathers and what Jesus would do, hope and ignorance - indifference and love.” Playing: Pick & Frolic’s Hilarities E. 4th St. Theater, 2035 E. 4th St., Downtown, 216-736-4242, www.pickwickandfrolic.com. My father would come bursting through the door, breathless...with a. ski mask,, shotgun, big duffel bag full of money and say, ‘Come on, kids! We're moving! Don't bother packing, just get in the car!’ Very hardworking, my father. Worked a lot of long shifts to put food on the table.
