Could Ohio become the 13th state to legalize medicinal marijuana?
It's about time Ohio got serious about Marijuana reform. In late May, Tom Roberts of Dayton introduced a medical marijuana bill that will hopefully pass and make Ohio the 13th state with medical marijuana legalized. Speaking as a toker, if medical marijuana passes, I'm going to do whatever it takes to become legal. Marijuana laws are the height of hypocrisy, jailing people for a benign and enjoyable activity that's far less harmful than many legal and abused substances like alcohol and prescription drugs. I'll admit to be willing to lie to not have to live in fear of being arrested for something I feel is acceptable behavior (and even if it wasn't, I'm doing nobody harm other than myself)… I've already had to skirt the system to pass drug tests. The biggest rub is that I'm a very well educated, highly paid professional who contributes greatly to society. Positive legislation will also keep non-violent non-criminals out of jail and destroy far fewer lives and families, as well as legitimately benefiting people with a medical need to ease chronic pain and gain appetites. One of my good friends was hit by a car recently, and he's told me that marijuana eases his pain to a point where he can tolerate moving around on a daily basis and doesn't leave him useless like the pain pills he was prescribed. Another tangible benefit is that the medical marijuana industry will provide lucrative income for a huge number of people (including farmers) and generate plenty of tax money. I urge everyone involved in making medical marijuana a reality to keep an open and compassionate mind, and to just say yes. Anonymous

when will this useless debate stop? people can grow their own-goverrnment can't tax that...it's also big business for law enforcement-people will be out of jobs if they can't capture and detain people for selling and/or growing it...it's big business for the corporations that provide the jail and prison institutions and their supplies that house these offenders...government couldn't give away money to the reform programs that try or attempt to get people sober...it's all about making money and yes, they make more money by keeping it illegal.

Everyone should watch the movie "AKA Tommy Chong". Tommy did 9 months in prison for selling bongs on the internet, and was the victim of FBI entrapment. If he hadn't taken a plea bargain, they were going to charge his wife and son. Even if you are anti-marijuana, you should be offended by how this case was manipulated.

When I was a carpenter, I was injured on the job when the blade of a recipricating saw broke off and struck me in the eye. The blade caused a laceration to which a specialist had to put me under for surgery to actually stitch the gash on my eyeball closed. I was prescribed 6 different eye drops, most of which were to keep the pressure and swelling in my eye low. These drops caused terrible stomach aches as well as other digestive problems that sometimes outweighed the pain in my eye. As an alternative I smoked marijuana which as we all know eases pressure in the eyes and is one of the reasons persons suffering glaucoma are so fond of medicinal marijuana. The marijuana I smoked as an alternative to the eyedrops not only eased the pain at a more effective rate, but also relieved the digestive problems I was receiving due to the eye drops. On a side note marijuana does not kill hundreds of thousands of people each year like say...alchohol or tobacco. Who might I add are the people that are funding campaigns to keep marijuana illegal alongside of any business that will be threatened by hemp products.
