Michael Symon, he of Lola, Lolita, Bar Symon, the B-Spot, Iron Chef, and briefly of Dinner Impossible, will be getting a spinoff on the soon-to-launch Cooking Channel. Because he doesn't have enough to do already and he shan't rest until there's a braised pork belly on every table.
The Food Network announced the projected schedule for the new network on Tuesday morning, and it includes, "Cook Like An Iron Chef." Hosted by Cleveland's favorite swine-lovin', world-renowned chef, the show will premiere in July.
Here's the brief description from the press release:
Iron Chef Michael Symon teaches viewers the skills and techniques needed to cook like an Iron Chef! Along the way, Michael is joined by chef challengers and other Iron Chefs who reveal their mysterious methods in tackling secret ingredients.
Symon conjured up the most delicious burger we've ever had in the Forest City — the Lolita happy hour burger, served on a toasted english muffin with bacon and a fried egg, and all for $5 — so we're inclined to trust anything this guy does, especially since it almost always involves fatty and delicious things piled on other fatty and delicious things.
The Cooking Channel, if you're curious, launches May 31 and is a step by Scripps Networks, the owners of the Food Network, away from just about everything you probably hate about the Food Network, including frosted tips and lots of "experts" talking way above your head.
