Update: Tiffani Calise was charged with murder today in the death of 23-month-old Aaliyah Ali, the toddler she was babysitting last week when Ali was found unresponsive in a bath tub and who eventually passed away last Thursday, two days after the incident.

The coroner, though releasing no specific cause of death yet, says that the injuries Ali sustained are not consistent with Calise's version of that night's events.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal: "Sheriff's deputies issued a news release Tuesday announcing the murder charge. Calise was baby-sitting the 23-month-old girl, Aaliyah Ali, Aug. 9 when the toddler was injured at about 11:40 p.m."

Aaliyah Ali, the 23-month-old toddler who was found unresponsive in a bathtub Tuesday, passed away on Thursday. Tiffani Calise, the 20-year-old babysitter watching the child that night, has been arrested.

Not much is clear about the events that led to the child's death except that Calise's story doesn't match what police have found.

Authorities were called to the Briarwood apartments in Green Tuesday morning. Calise said that she left the toddler in the bathtub unattended while she dealt with her own child, who was also in the residence.

Calise was already in trouble for child endangerment when deputies were contacted later Tuesday by medical experts who found bleeding in Ali's skull "not consistent with earlier reports."

According to Fox 8's report, more charges could be brought against Calise.

"The babysitter claimed she went to get something out of the closet and left the victim in the bathtub. She heard some noises when she came back the child was limp, she then called 911," said Summit County Sheriff Deputy William Holland.

Deputies say after the baby was taken to Akron Children's Hospital they learned the toddler's injuries were inconsistent with the babysitter's story.

According to deputies, the child had bleeding on her skull and head injuries. Investigators will not say how the injuries were sustained.

"She used to watch my own kids. She would never, I could never picture her hurting someone or anyone's child," said Jackie Miller.

Neighbor Randy Street said, "You never like to see a little child get hurt, especially with the accusations that have been made. It is devastating. I have two little girls of my own. When I found out, I kissed my little girls," said Street.

Calise is due in court today.

Our thoughts and prayers are obviously with Ali's family.
