  • Eric Deaton, posing and looking moral.

Eric Deaton is the Constitution Party's candidate to fill George Voinovich's Senate seat.

The fringe candidate is one of many vying against Rob Portman and Lee Fisher, the big boys from the big parties.

Deaton, who has been endorsed by the Mansfield and Akron Tea Party groups, was already facing an uphill battle in garnering any votes.

What police claim Deaton did with an underage girl is not going to help.

Deaton was indicted yesterday on charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Police claim that between March 2006 and March 2007, the Constitution Party's great Ohio cut the red tape with a girl who was between 13 and 15-years-old.

Not good.

Deaton's website, DeatonForSenate.com, shows a number of issues he supports: immigration controls, free speech, and, of course, family values.

He just (allegedly) had a different interpretation of family values, one that involved young girls.

The Dayton Daily News has Deaton's response to the allegations:

“I think this is politically motivated,” said Deaton, blaming the indictment on his decision to run for political office.

“The powers that be don’t like that,” said Deaton, who said he intends to stay in the race.

The powers that be also don't like diddling around with minors, but Deaton will find out that soon enough.
