The Cleveland Indians Really, Really Want You to Buy Season Tickets

The Cleveland Indians have been outright putrid the last few years, and their performance on the field has had a corresponding impact on ticket sales. Turns out no one wants to pay, even a little, to watch a bad baseball team.

Reports put the Tribe's season ticket base at just over 8,000, a number that is almost as embarrassing as Jhonny Peralta's range. Almost.

With no big-name free agents on the horizon, little to sell the public on, and the lowest attendance totals in the league, the Indians have resorted to throwing everything but a free striptease from Grady Sizemore at prospective season ticket buyers in the hopes of filling those empty seats at The Jake, and even that isn't out of the question yet.

According to Crain's Cleveland:

Previously, they've offered buy-one-get-one-free tickets in the lower and upper bowls, and those will return for 2011.

This year, the team announced in a news release, fans who buy two season tickets in the left field bleachers will receive even more perks: a free Terrace Club membership, one free suite rental — added last year to all new season ticket packages — and two tickets in the team's first base-line club section, where all food and non-alcoholic drinks are free.

On the docket if that package of swag doesn't entice buyers: free Spanish lessons from Manny Acta, the opportunity to put shaving cream on Larry Dolan's face while he's sleeping during games, and free tickets to attend all future WWE events in Cleveland with Travis Hafner.
