Update: We didn't get around to posting this yesterday, but Independence will be the location of the third outpost for Melt. (Cleveland.com)
Matt Fish has just divulged that he has signed a lease to open a third Melt Bar and Grilled. The new restaurant is slated to open by the end of September and will be in south suburbia, strategically located between Cleveland and Akron.
"We want to start tapping into the Akron market," Fish explains.
"This will be our first new construction," notes Fish. "I'm excited for the challenge of building the interior to match our existing restaurants. What I won't miss is the hidden challenges that come with renovating old, century buildings."
At 4,500 square feet, the new Melt will be slightly larger than the Lakewood venue and slightly smaller than the Heights location. There will be room for about 140 diners, with a heavier emphasis on tables rather than bar seating. An additional 30 customers will be accommodated outdoors. The look, feel, and menu will be as close to the original locales as possible.
With the third Melt open, Fish will employ a total of about 200 people.
