Earlier this week, 34-year-old William Hale was out in Strongsville and downed a fifth of Jagermeister with a friend. Good times, good times.

Unfortunately, the Elyria man needed to get back home and he and his friend, who had passed out in a truck somewhere on Route 42, were sauced. So Hale did the only logical thing for a man looking to get from Strongsville to Elyria: he decided to walk.

Yeah, you can imagine he didn't get very far. In fact, he never made it out of Strongsville. According to the Chronicle Telegram, he stopped at the Speedway on Route 82 and phoned for a cab. They told him it would be about 45 minutes before a cab would arrive. This was too long for our weary traveler.

So he called 911 instead.

He asked to speak to the Nord Center — a counseling service for addiction, mental disease, etc. They determined he "was not homicidal or suicidal and was simply drunk." Cops were dispatched to Hale', but not before he dialed 911 a few more times to update him on his location.

When police arrived, Hale informed them he had a 9 p.m. curfew and worried about getting home in time. They informed him it was 6 a.m. After pleading with the cops to just take him home "and force his elderly father to let him in," Hale was instead taken to jail and booked on charges of disorderly conduct and misuse of 911.
