Longtime Plain Dealer cartoonist Dick Dugan passed away Saturday at the age of 85.

For a certain generation that grew up catching up on sports news in the morning paper, a cartoon by Dugan was usually the first glimpse at whether Cleveland teams won or lost the previous day. His sketches of Chief Wahoo and Brownie the Elf would dot the front page of the Plain Dealer and you'd know immediately what happened.

While he might be best remembered for his sports contributions, his work as a cartoonist for the PD, a span that lasted 38 years, encompassed much, much more, and his contributions outside of that career were just as memorable and important.

Read the obituary here.

RIP, Dick.
