Update VI: Remember Daniel Harless, everyone's favorite threat-shouting, banana's-crazy, short-tempered Canton cop? The one who was caught on video not once, not twice, but at least three times threatening to shoot suspects? Well, he was fired back in January for his transgressions, but a mediator determined that he's eligible to get his job back. As of last week, according to NewsNet5, Harless had yet to apply. Maybe he's just waiting until after he gets all his aggression out on a turkey this week.

Update V: Harless is now appealing his dismissal. An arbitration is scheduled. He shouldn't hold his breath. (Canton Rep)

Update IV: According to the chief of police in Canton, Daniel Harless has been fired from the force because of those oh-so-nasty arrest videos that drew the ire of just about everyone.

Good riddance. (Fox 8)

Update III: The concealed carry charges against William Bartlett, the guy on the unfortunate end of notorious Canton cop and hot-head Daniel Harless' berserk threats in the incident below, which spawned an internal investigation and administrative leave for the officer. (Fox 8)

Update II: After a string of other incidents caught on video came to light, most of which involved Harless threatening to shoot people in the head, the Canton Police Department launched an internal investigation and Harless was slated for a disciplinary hearing. Well, that's been delayed, according to the Canton Repository. Why?

A disciplinary hearing for a police officer who threatened to execute a driver has been postponed until Dec. 1 at the request of the union, which says the patrolman has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Here's what Police Union president Bill Adams had to say in a letter to Safety Director Thomas Ream: “The progress that Dan Harless is making with his doctor visits would only be reversed with reliving this incident so close to his treatment for his PTSD disability. When his doctor or the city of Canton’s doctor would clear him for duty, then an appropriate disciplinary hearing should be scheduled.”

Update:
The Canton officer has been placed on administrative leave. The police chief issued this statement: "The behavior demonstrated on the video is wholly unacceptable and it violates many rules, regulations and standards we demand of our officers." (NewsNet5)

There are obviously two sides to this story, but one side has decidedly less crazy on it.

The basics: Canton police pulled over to a car with three people: one who the officer accuses of being a prostitute, one who he refers to as her pimp, and another man who was in the driver's seat who claims that he knew the woman from driving a cab back in the day and that he had been asked by her for a ride.

The trouble: The driver has a concealed carry permit and has a gun. Now, the law says that you are supposed to stay in your car and immediately inform the officer that you have a weapon and a permit. In this case, however, neither cop approaches the driver for a solid five minutes and when he tries to tell them he has a weapon, he is immediately cut off multiple times. When he finally gets the sentence out, one of the cops goes absolutely crazy. And we mean crazy. He tells the man he should have pulled his glock and put ten bullets in his chest, that the man is too dumb to be walking around, that he should have caved in his skull, that he will pull him over and arrest him anytime he sees him in the future, cuffs him for a felony, and more. Scary stuff.

The full video is below (it gets good around the 8-minute mark), which was originally posted by Ohioans for Concealed Carry, so while there's captions to help you understand what is going on, there's also plenty of OCC policy along the way.

The Canton Repository reports the officer is now under investigation.
