It's been two and a half years since chef Pete Joyce opened his ingredient-driven Mediterranean restaurant Bistro on Lincoln Park (2391 W. 11th St., 216-862-2969). The time has come, he says, to do a little retooling.
"We've been wanting to make some changes for a while now, and August is historically a slow month," Joyce explains. "The timing was right."
The restaurant on Tremont's Lincoln Park will be closed between Monday August 29 and Wednesday September 7. When it reopens, it will sport new paint, lighting, furniture and fixtures. More importantly, it will feature two brand new menus.
The most significant physical changes will be in the bar room, says Joyce, which will enjoy a less formal look. Tablecloths are being pulled, high tops, lounge chairs and coffee tables added.
Two new menus — one for service throughout the restaurant, the other for use in the bar only — will be unveiled along with the physical changes. Both will reflect a slightly new direction for the kitchen, says Joyce.
"We are morphing from Mediterranean to contemporary American," he explains. A more seafood-centric menu will build upon the chef's years at Blue Point and Salmon Dave's.
Items on the bar menu will range from small to not so small, with bar snacks, salads, sandwiches and bistro specialties. Items will include lamb sliders, confit turkey wings, and Tuscan Bolognese with polenta. New entrée items will include surf and turf of American Wagyu carpaccio with lobster salad, Maine lobster pot pie, deconstructed braise short ribs, and a new house steak specialty.
