We have yet another candidate for parent of the year: Amy Seward of North Canton was arrested over the weekend for driving drunk with her kid in the car. Actually, she wasn’t driving. She was passed out, slumped over the steering wheel in the middle of the road.
And worse, her 1-year-old daughter was in the front seat free style—no car seat, no seat belt, nothing. The only good thing about this scenario is that the little girl was too young to know how to open the car door, climb out, and go wandering.
There are additional details:
Canton Police arrived a short time later and they conducted a series of sobriety tests, all of which Seward failed, according to the report.
Seward was then taken into custody for suspicion of OVI and driving under suspension.
When back at the police station Seward did agree to take a blood alcohol breath test that resulted in a .184 BAC, more than twice the legal limit of .08 in Ohio.
Seward was charged with drunk driving, child endangering, and driving with a suspended license. She and her daughter were released to Seward’s husband and authorities reported the incident to Stark County Children Protective Services.
