USA Today's Pop Traveler just unveiled "11 Reasons to Visit Cleveland."
The list was actually written by a Clevelander, Big Business (or Chris M.), who claims he's "not a storyteller, humorist, columnist, musician, satirist, or radio personality."
At least he got some of the best things about Cleveland right, even is there are some glaring omissions, like no Melt or Great Lakes beer?
Many of the usual suspects show up, including the Beachland, West Side Market, and Big Fun. No arguments there.
And we're all for left-field picks like the Burning River Roller Girls and Chucklefck.
Still, when it comes to what Cleveland does best — that would be food and music — it would be nice to acknowledge a chef who actually gives a shit about vegetarians and an artist who has more talent for landing in jail than rhyming.
Here's the list, if you don't feel like reading the whole thing:
1. Michael Symon restaurants
2. Beachland Ballroom
3. The Christmas Story house
4. West Side Market
5. Big Fun
6. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
7. Cedar Lee Theatre
8. Burning River Roller Girls
9. Chucklefck comedy nights
10. Stadium Mustard
11. Machine Gun Kelly
The dude who wrote the thing also gave a shout-out to this cool art collection.

All fine additions no doubt! Some other great Cleveland "things" are Parade the Circle, Wade Oval Wednesdays, Hessler Street Fair, Shooters in the summertime, Pier-W, Natural History Museum, Playhouse Square, professional sports, the Goodtime III, Grog Shop and Whiskey Island. There is another 11!
I could keep going on about the great neighboorhood bars and restaurants or how Cleveland is one of the top cities for charity donations and hours of volunteer service.
Personally, I hope people enjoy our Malley's Chocolates and the Mid West Regage Fest!
But, let us not forget the best part of Cleveland...THE PEOPLE! The 42 years of Scene Magazine are mighty cool as well!!
Maybe # 12 could be “A local ‘reporter’ who likes nothing better than to take shots at a chef with national and international recognition, and an artist who is rapidly gaining national recognition, both of whom have nevertheless chosen to keep their homes in Cleveland.” Yup, I like the ring of that.
Gordon Square and Tremont. All my artist buddies who meet at Murray Hill or The Literary Cafe.....there are lots of us making all kinds of art. Some - national grade to go along with the posted link to the 100 sketches of Cleveland, which are perfect.
How about the Cleveland Orchestra? Apollo's Fire? Metroparks? The Art Museum, who owns the third largest collection in the country?
I would have thought our fine arts scene would be included. The Cleveland Orchestra, the playhouse, and the new renovated theaters.
