Ohio Haunted Inn on the Market

Somehow, we got on the email list of a website called toptenrealestatedeals.com, featuring spectacular homes way out of our price range. And while most of the offerings are out of our geographic area as well, one of the latest looks intriguing — and it’s within driving distance of Cleveland for weekend getaways.

The Buxton Inn is a charmingly bucolic multi-building country inn in Granville in Licking County just east of Columbus, a mere two-and-a-half hours away. Billed as “Ohio’s Historic Haunted Inn,” it’s said to be the oldest continuously operating inn in Ohio, open to guests since 1812. And the ten-building property with grounds featuring gardens, fountains, ponds, and gazebos is on the block for only $3,900,000.

No, the owners weren’t scared away by the ghosts; they’re retiring. But what terrifying ghosts haunt this idyllic property? They include a couple of former owners and a house cat “they say you can feel jump on the bed with you.” Many of us don't need to go to a fancy inn to experience that. That’s not as scary as the spirits that could haunt some of the site’s other featured properties. They include homes now owned by Ozzy Osbourne, Rush Limbaugh, and the Octomom. — Anastasia Pantsios
