If You Missed It in Person, HBO Airs the Rock Hall Inductions Next Week

If you didn't score a ticket to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Induction Ceremony in Cleveland a couple weeks ago, and still want to see what everyone was talking about the next day, clear your calendar next weekend.

HBO will air the ceremony from 9 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.

Shrewd readers may notice that HBO's two-and-a-half-hour running time is three hours less than the ass-numbing real event, which didn't end until 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to HBO, the special will include "long-awaited performances, momentous jams, reunions of former band members, and moving speeches from both presenters and inductees."

We're guessing that means some of the more boring parts of the show — the late Laura Nyro's son accepting her award, Rock Hall CEO Terry Stewart's roundly booed shout-out to governor John Kasich, all those sidemen speeches — will probably be trimmed or excised altogether to make it seem like it wasn't five and a half freakin' hours long.

The concert will also air on HBO on May 10 (7:30 p.m., 3:20 a.m.), 13 (2:00 p.m.), 15 (3:00 p.m., 12:30 a.m.), 19 (5:15 p.m.), 28 (12:10 a.m.), and 31 (1:30 p.m.) — just in case you have something else going on next Saturday or want to watch it again. And again. And again.

Or if you're a real fan — or maybe you just want to see yourself shaking ass to the Beastie Boys medley on your 52-inch Vizio — HBO Signature will show the special during a 24-hour marathon, starting at midnight and ending on Sunday, May 6, at midnight. —Michael Gallucci
