More Local Train Woes as Two Engines Crash in Akron

Posted By on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 9:26 AM

It’s been a bad week for Ohio’s choo choo method of transportation. Yesterday, a train down in Columbus derailed, producing this spectacular (and non-lethal) explosion. Now, in the early hours of this morning, two CSX trains went head-to-head down in Akron.

No injuries were reported, according to 19ActionNews — also, no spectacular photo opportunities from the subsequent boom.

It happened around 1:45 a.m. near East Mill and Broadway behind Quaker Square.

Both cars were transporting various items, but nothing hazardous.

One train was coming from Pennsylvania to Ohio. The other train was coming from Virginia to Ohio.

Some train cars derailed as a result of the crash.

Look at it this way, when you're trains aren't running on time, you've still got something to work toward.
