Acoustic singer-song writer Alex Bevan is a well-known figure in the Cleveland music scene, best known for his mid-’70s party anthem “Skinny Little Boy,” a local radio staple for many years. As he often jokes, he’s not skinny anymore, but he’s still musically productive. Tonight at 7 p.m. at Nighttown in Cleveland Heights, he’ll be celebrating the release of his 21st album, I Have No Wings, on his own Fiddler’s Wynde label. Admission is $10.

From the start, Bevan’s music has been a mixture of earnest, introspective songs and humorous, even bawdy, Put-in-Bay-style anthems. (Indeed, Bevan has been popular on that party island). Much of his material has reflected on the beauty of the natural environment, including South Shore Serenade, a musical tribute to Lake Erie.

Bevan released his first album Springboard, which contained “Skinny,” in 1976. Some of his career highlights include producing albums for the dean of Put-in-Bay musicians Pat Dailey, recording ads for the Cleveland Browns, educational environmental work with children, and developing his own line of pickles.
