"Steve LaTourette unbound has been one of the fascinating subplots of the fiscal cliff fight."
That's The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza on one local congressman's take on the fiscal cliff nonsense and eventual vote(s).
As 2012 came to a close, LaTourette said that Republican senators at the helm "must have been drunk" during whatever oversight was given to the negotiations. “Nothing good happens after midnight on New Year’s Eve,” he said as the back-and-forth drew onward into the wee hours.
Earlier in December, the outgoing Republican congressman rightfully noted the fiscal cliff deal was mostly theater, calling the whole business a duel of "charades." He went on to blame the blame game for the prolonged delay in action.
And even earlier in the year, LaTourette announced his retirement from Congress, calling out Washington's incompetent working culture. He also called out the "20 people in their pajamas who go on Cleveland.com anonymously and feel that the world is just dying for their snarky, stupid comments."
