The experimental Opening Day free shuttle that ferried Tribe fans between Tremont and The Jake (nope) was such a success, that the Indians have decided to extend the service for the foreseeable future.
"We were very excited with the support and turnout from the Tremont neighborhood on Opening Day for our Indians free game day shuttle," says Curtis Danburg, senior director of communications for the Cleveland Indians.
The Tribe's plan is to continue service on Friday and Saturday home games. Pick-ups will take place 15 minutes prior to the start of each game and drop-offs will take place immediately following the game.
There will be two Tremont stops, one at W. 11th Street and Fairfield Ave. (across from South Side), and the other on Professor Avenue between Fahrenheit and Treehouse. Both locations will be clearly marked.
Area business owners Tom Leneghan and Justin Clemens, who have been championing this grass-roots initiative to connect Tremont fans with the ballpark, are calling this a win/win for the neighborhood.
"We are grateful to the Indians organization creating a shuttle opportunity for the residents and patrons of the businesses in Tremont," says Clemens.
