The Mentor Police Department is issuing a big fat False Alarm statement after issuing a child enticement alert last week regarding a man who asked several youngsters if they'd seen his missing dog.
Turns out, the "scruffy" middle-aged man was genuinely looking for his missing pup near Ellington Place where he was spotted in a dark car speaking to some neighborhood kids.
According to 19 Actions News, the man involved contacted the Mentor Police Department yesterday evening to clarify the misconception after reading about the alert online.
Mentor Police verified his story and have since revoked the alert.
