On the popular FOX show MasterChef, chefs Gordon Ramsay and Graham Elliot pair up with restaurateur Joe Bastianich to crown the next MasterChef from a new class of home cooks from across the country. Previous competitors have included stay-at-home moms, doctors, janitors, lawyers, teachers and truck drivers. The show is summer’s number one program on Wednesday nights, with approximately six million viewers per episode.
If you think you have what it takes to compete and win, the show's producers want to see and hear from you. On Saturday, October 19, there is an open casting call in Columbus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency (350 N. High St.).
"We are looking for the best and most talented home cooks in America," says Supervising Casting Producer Erika Landin. "People who really have a passion for food and cooking but didn't necessarily follow that path. MasterChef is the show that gives them the chance to fulfill that dream."
Landin says that hopeful contestants should bring a dish that best represents who you are as a cook. Or "you on a plate," as she likes to say. Also, "be open and honest about who you are and what makes you special."
