Via The News-Herald, eight-year-old Emma Cox of Chardon Township has emerged victorious in the autumn regional Pokemon Championships in Fort Wayne, Ind. Her performance could earn her a trip to the world championship in Washington D.C. this summer.

Cox cleaned up in the Junior division, thanks in part to the instruction of her old brother Ashton, 15, who's been playing Pokemon for years. He competed in the adult division and placed 12th.

But Emma Cox was a juggernaut out there. And she didn't just win a trophy for her efforts. She took home a new Nintendo 3DS plus the new Pokemon videogame and 72 packs of Pokemon cards as well. Seventy-two.

Parents in and around Fort Wayne trembled and quaked at Emma's ability to catch (and beat) 'em all.

In the meantime, Chardon may become a hot bed for Pokemon prodigies.
