It's been just over a month since Porcelli's Bistro closed its Tremont location, but already its replacement is gearing up for opening day. Ligali's Bistro (2391 W. 11th St., 216-331-2616, ligalisbistro.com) will have a few soft opening meals this weekend and open to the general public next week.
"It's my menu, my concept," says executive chef Eric Wells, a graduate of the International Culinary Arts and Sciences Institute in Chesterland and owner of Skye LaRae’s catering company. "We're going for a French, Asian, Mediterranean feel for the menu."
Chef de cuisine James Black and his crew will handle the day-to-day operations.
Starters include mussels frites with cilantro aioli. In the entrée department there's grilled flatiron steak with red zinfandel sauce, grilled halibut with chile-lime butter, and a vegetarian Asian-style peanut noodles with fresh vegetables. Rustic homemade desserts will include peach cobble, mixed berry crisp crumble topping, and mini cheesecakes with strawberry puree.
Starters will be priced $6 to $12, while entrees will range from $14 to $22.
"We love the destination restaurants in Tremont that cater to special occasions, but we want this to be the type of spot someone can visit quite often and enjoy coming back to once, twice or even three times a month," says Wells.
The chef says that little was needed to be done to the 60-seat restaurant short of a few light cosmetic touches.
The restaurant is owned by Faozou Ligali, who was born in West Africa and raised in Paris, where he later owned a restaurant.
