Cleveland Independents, an organization of over 90 member restaurants, is introducing new efforts to attract diners to its wide array of locally-owned, quality restaurants.
First up is a series of seven advertisements that will focus on various regions of Cleveland and the restaurants located within them. The first region to be featured is Cleveland Heights/ University Heights. The ad was shot at the historical Superior Schoolhouse building, built around 1859.
Subsequent ads will be released throughout the year. “For all of the advertisements, we’re trying to come up with places that are architecturally and visually interesting," says Myra Orenstein, the organization’s executive director.
The second initiative that the organization will be driving this year is its “Passport Program,” slated to begin March 1st and running through October 1st. By visiting restaurants as they are featured in the upcoming ads, diners can add another stamp to their passport. “The goal is to encourage people to try different restaurants,” says Orenstein. Passport books are free and can be picked up at any of the Cleveland Independents restaurants.
Collecting 15 unique stamps will earn diners a free copy of The Deck 2014. The deck is similar to a set of playing cards, with each card offering a discount at one of roughly 50 area restaurants. The Deck is also available for purchase on the organization’s website, making it a very attractive gift.
This summer, the first of a series of three new recipe books will be available for purchase on the organization’s website. Orenstein says the hope is to include at least one recipe from each of the chefs featured in the regional ads. The other books in the series will be released throughout the year, with a composite of all of the books available for purchase on November 1st.
By taking advantage of what Cleveland Independents has to offer in 2014, diners can enjoy a year filled with talented local chefs and the fantastic food they cook. Sign us up.
