Local graphic artist Derek Hess, a longtime presence on the local music scene, is the subject of the new documentary film Forced Perspective. The movie has been making its way to various film festivals and tonight from 8 to 9:30, Hess will be a guest on WJCU’s “Metal on Metal” radio program hosted by local metal aficionado Bill Peters. He’ll talk about the movie that’s currently out, and he’ll also discuss the feature length version of the film that's also in the works. The longer version will provide more details about his career and his involvement with the local music scene.

"Nick Cavalier, the guy who did the documentary, has received investors so he can make a full-length movie from the film short he did initially, which was shown recently at the Cleveland International Film Festival", says Hess, who’s quoted in a press release. "The feature will go from just art talk, to what made the art talk, the good and the band, instructors of mine, the owners of the Euclid Tavern, Alternative Press guys, my sister and nephew, long close friends and so on. There is some dirt...and that Bill Peters guy and KROKUS too!"

Cavalier and his film crew will film Hess' guest appearance on WJCU's "Metal On Metal" tonight. And for anyone who knows Hess, it’s not a surprise to hear that his dog Rommel will be there too.

"I've arranged a special surprise for Derek tonight in honor of his appearance on my show," says Peters. "Few people may know this because of his association with heavier music but Derek just happens to be one of the world's biggest KROKUS fans, along with other hard rock bands from that era like ANGEL and STARZ. His secret is now out! I have KROKUS vocalist Marc Storace calling in from Switzerland to go live on the air with Derek. Marc is really looking forward to speaking with him. This should be fun!"

“Metal on Metal” airs on WJCU every Friday night from 6:30 to 9:30 and can be heard via the Internet at wjcu.org.
