By the end of the month, Lakewood will get significantly weirder thanks to the addition of The Side Quest Bar, the “destination for all things geek, nerd and beer.” Located in the former Eddy and Iggy's spot (17900 Detroit Ave.) Side Quest is not going to offer the typical bar experience.

"The Side Quest is going to focus on table top and board gaming, console gaming, geeky TV shows and craft beers,” explains owner Sam Bridgeman. “Trivia, theme nights, lecture series and live television programing will be common events."

The Side Quest will offer an extensive library of games for patrons to use while drinking craft draft beers, including some designed specifically for the bar. The game library will range from Munchkin and Settlers of Catan to Scrabble, Life and Cards Against Humanity. Customers are also free to bring in their own favorite games.

Owner Sam Bridgeman was the man behind the blog “Every Bar in Lakewood,” which explored the vast array of nightlife options in Lakewood. What Bridgeman soon discovered was that his neighborhood was missing “a place for geeks and nerds to enjoy the things they love while having a few great craft beers with friends!”

The bar will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, August 30th at 7 p.m., when the first 25 guests will snag swag bags filled with T-shirts, gift certificates and other fun stuff.
