It's back.

Downtown Akron will be transformed into Slide the City—a 780-foot water slide —again this summer.

Last year, 3,000 people paid $10 to $40 for one of Slide the City's steepest water slide set ups yet. Organizers say the slide (which basically looks like a giant Slip 'n' Slide) will most likely sell out, so it's important to get your ticket early. There were complaints last year of long lines and some scheduled dates (like the ill-advised stop in Flint, which was in the midst of a water crisis) didn't happen. And some cities (ahem, Cleveland) that had tentative announcements never got firm dates and never happened.

Still, maybe worth checking out.

Slide the City returns to Akron Saturday, August 20 on University Avenue. The early bird price to register as a single trip slider is $10 person, three times is $25 per person and an all day pass is $45 per person. It's best to register early because the cost rises to $20, $45 and $65 the day of the event.
