LeBron's latest and greatest shoe was given a proper introduction, as the Nike Air Max LeBron VII was treated to an international reception at the Ed Davis Community Center in Akron on Friday. Before LeBron embarks on a 10-city tour to promote both the movie and the shoe (which both technically premiere in October), Nike and The King himself kicked it off in grand style in James' hometown.

The day consisted of a buildout, which demonstrated both the history of LeBron's professional career and the evolution of his Nike kicks, a press conference attended by a litany of media and local youth, and plenty of hoopla.

I'm not really a sneakerhead, but the basics of the VII, as far as I can tell are as follows: It's the lightest shoe in the LeBron family, thanks to flywire technology that makes the shoes stronger and lighter. It has plenty of personal touches, from his initials to his number to his name to his logo. It will drop in October for about $160 retail. And, its the first shoe to feature 360 air max technology, which basically means instead of air just beneath your heel, you've got air running from heel to toe. Very, very comfortable.

Below, find pictures of the LeBron shoe and career display, as well as photos from the press conference, which was hosted by SNL alum Keenan Thompson, who wasn't very funny at all.

When the shoe hits Akron for real on the 10-city tour, the Air Max LeBron VII's will have a brand new, limited edition colorway. The colorway for Chicago has already been leaked.

For each stop at each city, Nike had designed a special colorway for Nike Air Max LeBron VII to represent the city. Other than a specially chosen colorway, the shoes will also feature film still images from More Than A Game on the back side panel of the shoe as well as the tongue. Each city will feature a unique image and the name of the city will be scribed on the heel of the Max Air 360 unit.
