8/15: Cleveland Orchestra with David Fray

Posted By on Thu, Aug 13, 2009 at 8:00 AM

Pianist David Fray interprets music note by note, a skill that’s netted comparisons to consummate recitalist Glenn Gould. The 28-year-old musician began playing piano when he was four, graduated from the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique with top honors and has been busy ever since recording and touring. Last year, the documentary Swing, Sing and Think chronicled Fray’s 2008 recording of keyboard concertos by J.S. Bach. That same year he made his New York debut and married Italian actress Chiara Muti, who happens to be conductor Riccardo Muti’s daughter. Fray performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25 as part of Cleveland Orchestra’s all-Mozart program tonight. Jayce Ogren conducts. It starts at 8 p.m. at Blossom Music Center (1145 W. Steels Corners Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, 216.231.1111). Tickets: $19-$82. — Michael Gill
