Stephen Kellogg’s musical history stretches back to the early ’90s, when the Massachusetts native released solo and group albums as a teen. But it’s his role as frontman of the Sixers that finally got him noticed. Since their 2004 debut, Bulletproof Heart, they’ve netted comparisons to the Band, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. Surfing the tension between country roots and classic rock, Kellogg and the Sixers have built a fan base the old-fashioned way: with great music and relentless touring. The band’s most recent album, The Bear, features pop touches that resonate like Fleetwood Mac and a rock foundation as solid as Tom Petty’s.
