12/23-24, 26-30: December Days at the Zoo

It may be the darkest, coldest time of the year, but over at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo (3900 Wildlife Way, 216.661.6500), things are merry and bright during its December Days celebration. Today and tomorrow, and again December 26-30 (the zoo is closed on Christmas Day), there’ll be a ton of stuff to do, much of it indoors: live music, ice-carving demonstrations, cookie decorating, eco-friendly crafts, a fireplace inside Wolf Lodge to warm your cold feet and a heated shuttle to take you between exhibits. Plus, Santa will pose for pictures today and tomorrow, and a Geico gecko exhibit will be in residence through December 31. The zoo is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with special activities from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission on December Days is $6 adults, $4 for kids 2-11. — Anastasia Pantsios
