12/4: A Christmas Carol at Ohio Theatre

Gerald Freedman’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol celebrates its 21st anniversary this season with a cast of Great Lakes Theater Festival vets, including Aled Davies (playing Scrooge for the second year) and Dudley Swetland (who used to play Scrooge but takes a couple of smaller roles this year). There’s also Andrew May as Bob Cratchit, Laura Perotta as Mother Cleveland (whose family reading of the Dickens classic sets up the play-within-a-play) and Baldwin-Wallace College grad Matt Lillo, who plays the ghosts of Christmases Past and Future. A Christmas Carol opens at 7:30 p.m. with performances through December 23 at PlayhouseSquare's Ohio Theatre (1511 Euclid Ave., 216.241.6000). Tickets: $28-$59. — Michael Gill
