12/4: Peter Pan at Beck Center

John Paul Soto returns for his second year as the star of the Beck Center’s production of Peter Pan. Choreographer Martin Cespedes and about half of the original cast are back too. But even if the story and venue are the same, don’t expect the same old show. Artistic director Scott Spence directs this year, and he says he’s hoping to speed things up by trimming approximately 25 minutes from the three-act musical. Plus, there’s a new Captain Hook: George Roth, who Beck audiences recently saw as Tevye in the season-opening production of Fiddler on the Roof. Peter Pan opens at 7:30 tonight with performances through January 3 at the Beck Center for the Arts (17801 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, 216.521.2540). Tickets: $10-$28. — Michael Gill
