2/5: Chris Redfern and Kevin DeWine at City Club

Meet the egos — oops, I mean, men — behind Ohio state politics. The average voter doesn’t know Chris Redfern and Kevin Dewine, but both have a huge impact on the candidates whose ads you’ll be sick of by next fall. Redfern chairs the Ohio Democratic Party; Dewine heads the Republicans. Some say Redfern is a slick hustler — but he did helm the Democrats’ return to state power in 2006. Others say Dewine is a whining bumbler — but maybe we’ll see differently this November. You have a chance to judge for yourself when the two men face off at the City Club of Cleveland (850 Euclid Ave., 216.621.0082) at noon today to talk about their visions for their respective parties and the direction of state government. It’s $18 for members, $30 for non-members, which includes lunch. Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance. — Anastasia Pantsios
