4/9: Miranda Lambert at the Akron Civic Theatre

Texas-bred badass Miranda Lambert hunts her dinner, doesn’t look a lot like other country stars and refuses to tone down her attitude or twang. On her terrific third album Revolution, she explores the divide between the left and the right, the blue and the red, and the pretty and the ugly. Ever since she set fire to a cheating boyfriend’s shit on her 2005 breakthrough single “Kerosene,” she’s mostly stayed away from Nashville’s dusty rulebook. And Nashville has sorta stayed away from her. Lambert’s best song, “Famous in a Small Town” from 2007’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, stalled outside of the Top 10 country chart. Still, all three of her albums have reached No. 1. You’ll find her finest songs on them, not on the radio — from “Only Prettier” (we’re all the same, she says, except the folks on her side of the political spectrum are way more attractive) to her cover of Fred Eaglesmith’s “Time to Get a Gun,” Revolution’s centerpiece. It’s a wonderful track and not nearly as black-and-white as a casual listen lets on. It also characterizes Lambert’s greatest paradox: She’s Nashville’s biggest fear and its brightest star. Lambert plays the Akron Civic Theatre (182 S Main St., Akron, 800.745.3000) at 8 p.m. Tickets: $29.75 and $39.75. — Michael Gallucci
