Let punk-rock vets Rise Against and Rancid duke it out over who gets headlining status on this tour. We call it a draw between the bands — both Clash-inspired, politically smart and wedded to old-school ideals. Just be sure to get there early for Riverboat Gamblers. The Austin-based quintet’s newest album, Underneath the Owl, combines melodic punk and revved-up rock — perfect for in-concert singalongs. The Gamblers have been together a little more than a decade, and in that time they’ve accrued a pretty hefty catalog of seven-inch records, split singles and self-released albums — the usual punk-rock stuff. Not so surprisingly, some of it’s sketchy. Thankfully, the band is sticking to mostly Underneath the Owl numbers during its opening set. So again, get there early. The Riverboat Gamblers with Rise Against and Rancid play the Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at Tower City (351 Canal Rd., 216.522.4822, livenation.com) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $32.50. — Michael Gallucci
