Ozric Tentacles are sorta like the U.K.’s version of the Grateful Dead: They’ve been playing together for 25 years, they’re known for awesome live shows and they jam like nobody’s business. They meld several different styles into their music — which is also Dead-like. On their latest album, The Yum Yum Tree, you’ll find psychedelia, space-rock, old-school prog-rock, jams, electronica, reggae rhythms and deep fusion grooves. Despite all this, it’s an uneven listen with a scarcity of memorable melodies. Plus, the twittering synths sound cheesy. Still, when Ozric Tentacles get into a solid groove and ride it, it can be exhilarating. Most of the cuts are uptempo, and the band knows when to wail and when to rein itself in. New listeners may be a little perplexed by all this, but jamland fans will be on cloud nine. Rare Blend opens at 8:30 p.m. at the Beachland Ballroom (15711 Waterloo Rd., 216.383.1124). Tickets: $20 advance, $22 day of show. — Mark Keresman
