Back in the day, conductor Dwight Oltman was a prominent fixture in Cleveland’s classical-music scene. He served as music director of the Cleveland Ballet for more than 20 years. He was also the founding conductor and music director of the now-defunct Ohio Chamber Orchestra for two decades. These days, Oltman teaches conducting, directs the Baldwin-Wallace College Bach festival and leads the B-W Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble kicks off its new season tonight with one of the many Beethoven pieces that rule local concert halls this week. The B-W Symphony’s program includes Ludwig Van’s Piano Concerto No. 4, featuring soloist Sungeun Kim, and Camille Saint-Saens’ “Organ” symphony.
