Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 may not be as famous as his fifth one, but it’s still a pretty awesome piece of work. The Cleveland Orchestra performs the opus (which is also known as “Choral”) this weekend at Severance Hall. You may know it from A Clockwork Orange -- it was used to sardonic effect during Alex’s aversion therapy. Conductor Franz Welser-Möst also leads the ensemble in a performance of Bernstein’s Jeremiah: Symphony No. 1. Guest vocalists Measha Brueggergosman, Kelley O’Connor, Frank Lopardo, and René Pape will also be there. Plus, the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus lends its voices.
